Manchester United came up against Turkish side Bursaspor in their 3rd match of this seasons UEFA Champions League group stage. after a turbulent past fews days with the whole Rooney saga the were bigger things to deal with and that was getting 3 points which they did.
The Reds started out with plenty of energy and had the Old Trafford faithful behind them more than ever during this tough period. It took only 3 minutes for United to open the scoring with a wonderful from the in form Nani, he dribbled pass a few Bursaspor players before firing home a stunning shot from about 30 yards out beating Ivankov.
The Turkish side was showing little in attack and everytime they got forward their attempts were quickly defused by a sturdy United defense that consisted of captain Nemanja Vidic, Rafael, Smalling and Evra. United were very birght going forward but continued to waste chances after chances which brought the West Brom match back to the forefront of my memory. After a lively start the Reds went into the half with only a one goal lead to show for their complete dominance of the first half.
The second half of the match was was very sloppy and unentertaining as both teams struggled to get anything going. United looked far from what we have known over the years and the match got poorer and poorer as the second half ticked away. Fergie made two changes in the form of Chicharito and Gabriel Obertan but that still wasn’t enough to rise the team performance and United had to settle for a narrow but convincing win to get a very important 3 points.
