Darren Bent sealed his move from Sunderland to Aston Villa in a deal worth £18m which can raise to as much as £24m. The moment that Bent handed in his transfer request questions arose, people were wondering why he would make such a move while Sunderland FC were on the up while Aston Villa is struggling in the bottom half of the table.
It is clear as day that a move like this is based totally on money, Sunderland can find themselves in Europe if all goes well and Aston Villa could be in the nPower Championship when all is said and done. I think Bent has been a bit ungrateful to a club that saved him from rotting on the bench at Tottenham Hotspur, something that is currently happening to Robbie Keane.
Ever since arriving at Sunderland the goals have been going in for Bent and the two looked like a match made in heaven, well atleast in my humble opinion. This is Bent’s fifth club, he’s had spells at Ipswich Town, Charlton Athletic, Tottenham Hotspur, Sunderland and now Aston Villa.
