Robin van Persie has completed his move to 19 Time English Champions Manchester United earlier today. The former Arsenal player signed a reported 24m deal which will see him at United until 2016, the 29 year old striker enjoyed his best ever season in the English Premier League last season .
Sir Alex Ferguson said: “Robin is a world-class striker with a proven record in England and in European football. His talents need no introduction to our fans – he has scored a number of goals against us in some classic battles with his former club. His movement, finishing and all-round ability are outstanding.”
An official unveiling will take place today, we’ll be sure to bring you a more detailed post on this major deal.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger today said his Gunners needed to buy a new striker, hours later the Gunners announced the signing of FC Koln striker and German international Luka Podolski. The German club risked losing their prized asset for nothing next summer as his contract was set to expire.
On his move to Arsenal the new Gunner said:
“The move to Arsenal gives me the opportunity to play at international level in a top European club,” Podolski told Cologne’s official website.
“I chose not to leave FC, but for this great opportunity in my sporting career.
“The decision for this step is not easy for me because FC Koln, the city and the fans are very special for me. I’ll wear the FC always in my heart. We must now concentrate all the forces together and focus exclusively on the league.”
On the signing of Podolski Arsene Wenger said:
“We are delighted to secure the deal for Lukas and see him as an important part of our future,” Wenger told the club’s official website.
“He is a top-class player, a very good finisher and a proven performer at club and international level. He is a very strong player and will provide us with good attacking options.”
Last season Blackburn Rovers lost 7-1 to Manchester United and allowed Dimitar Berbatov to score a sensational five goals. This season the Rovers found themselves on the receiving end of the same scoreline but this time in hands of Arsenal, there was no five goal scorer today but Robin van Persie did get himself a hat-trick.
Van Persie got the scoring off in the 2nd minute with Theo Walcott providing the assist, Rovers equalized half an hour later through Morten Gamst Pedersen. It was game on at the Emirates, well at-least that’s what the traveling Rovers fans thought.
Arsenal hitman Robin van Persie restored the Gunners one goal lead four minutes later with Walcott being the provider once again. The big Dutchman went from scorer to provider two minutes later by setting up Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain with his first goal for the Gunners. I’m not too sure how Arsenal fans will react to hearing their former captain who left this summer to return to his childhood club FC Barcelona advice to his former teammate Robin van Persie.
The 28 year old Dutchman is having his best season at the club with the goals coming fast and often, recently the striker said that he’s in no hurry to negotiate a new contract with his club despite having 18 months left on his current contract.
“I don’t know if they will keep him. It is his decision,” Fabregas said of his former team-mate.
“At his age, if he wants to move it will be his last chance and if he wants to stay he will stay and retire at Arsenal. Continue reading Cesc Urges Robin van Persie To Leave The Gunners?
Viva John Terry, viva John Terry, you could have won the game, but you slipped up again, Viva John Terry!
The England and Chelsea skipper has made slipping a form of art!
Princess Aurora had a curse placed on here by the evil fairy Maleficent which can only be broken by the kiss of a prince. The princess was sent into hiding to avoid being harmed but and was protected by fairies Flora, Fauna and Merryweather. However the princess still fell under the evil spell by Maleficent.
In football there is a similar tragedy which involves the captain of England & Chelsea, John Terry.
In the 2008 Champions League Final which was held in Moscow the Prince of Chelsea stepped up to take his team 5th penalty kick which would’ve given them their first ever UEFA Champions League trophy but the skipper slipped upon taking the spot kick and missed it. Continue reading Slipping Beauty
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger can’t seem to stay out the spotlight these days, he’s been the central figure of the Gunners this season especially after a humiliating 8-2 loss to Manchester United and losing 4-3 to Blackburn Rovers after being up 2-0.
This season by far has been the most trying for the Frenchman as he has been heavily criticized by fans and pundits for being stubborn in the transfer market to strengthen his squad, some have also labelled him as ignorant which he has been in the past.
That ignorance wore it’s ugly head once again over the weekend in Arsenal’s 2-1 loss to their North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane. After the match Clive Allen stretched his hand out to shake the hand of the Arsenal manager and he refused which infuriated Allen. The two men got into a heated confrontation and security had to separate them.

Arguably the biggest transfer saga football has ever seen finally came to an end as FC Barcelona completed the signing of midfielder Cesc Fàbregas on a reported five year contract said to be worth €40million with an eye opening buy-out clause inserted in it of €200million.
The 24-year old Spanish midfielder left the Catalan club in 2003 and joined Arsenal where he developed his game under the watchful eye of manager Arsène Wenger. After years of not winning any silverware at Arsenal the Spanish international grew frustrated and rumors of him making a return to his childhood club began surface.
Arsène Wenger always said his captain is not for sale at any price as he struggled to keep hold of his inspirational midfielder, today this battle has now been lost. Wenger said that they had to sell Fàbregas because he was no longer committed to the Gunners. Continue reading Cesc Fàbregas: Home Sweet Home
I’m sure Arsenal fans all around the globe have grown frustrated with the ongoing transfer speculation of midfielder and captain Cesc Fàbregas joining FC Barcelona.
Arsenal boss Arsène Wenger is determined to keep his star player and has said he’s not for sale at any price, although his manager is keen to keep him at the club the lure of winning league titles and the UEFA Champions League as Barcelona did recently at Wembley Stadium where they defeated newly crowned Barclay’s Premier League Champions Manchester United may play a key part in Fàbregas leaving the Gunners and joining the Catalan giants in the summer.
Recently the midfielder was quoted as saying: “Barca is the best team in the world and going there guarantees titles”. Continue reading Fàbregas: Deal Or No Deal
