It’s A Goal? Goal-Line Technology Approved By FIFA

Over the years football governing body FIFA have been under pressure to intro due  goal-line technology in football. At first fans were skeptical about the introduction of technology in football amidst fears it will slow down the match, some said it will take away some the excitement missed calls sometimes bring to a match.

In a recent meeting held in Zurich the technology was finally approved and will be done by using two systems, Hawk-Eye and GoalRef. This decision came was given the green light by the IFAB after passing a series of tests set out by FIFA.

Jerome Valcke (FIFA General Secretary) said they intend  on introducing goal-line technology in December for the Club World Cup in which will be held in Japan, the Confederations Cup and the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

Over the years there have been many instances of goals being scored but were not allowed as the referee or his linesmen failed to see it. A few notable instances were Manchester United v Tottenham (Premier League 2005), England v Germany (World Cup 2010), Ukraine v England (Euro 2012).

The English FA haven been lobbying for this decision for many years and they have welcomed this news with opened arms.

“We welcome today’s decision by IFAB and will engage in discussions with both Hawkeye and GoalRef in the near future with a view to introducing goal-line technology as soon as is practically possible.”

Do you welcome technology in football?

Capello Resigns

Fabio Capello has stepped down as manager of England months ahead of the kick off of Euro 2012. The former England manager have been heavily criticized for his tactics and the players he selected for the team. Capellos’ resignation came after a meeting with the FA chairman David Bernstein and general secretary Alex Horne at Wembley Stadium.

Recently the former Three Lion boss spoke out of the FA decision to strip defender John Terry of the captain of England due to his ongoing racial abuse case that is pending with QPR’s Anton Ferdinand.

There were shouts of harry Redknapp taking over for when Capello resigns after the Euro’s but with the England post now vacant those shouts will be heard even more and will be much louder, the Italians resignation mioght be welcoming news to some England fans but this is not welcoming news to Spurs fans though.

Rooney’s Red Mist

If the Rooney family wasn’t in the spotlight enough due to Wayne Rooney Sr. being arrested earlier in the week for sports betting then junior added to it by being sent off for England in their 2012 Euro qualifier against Montenegro.

Just when you thought the England and Manchester United forward had matured he shows his immaturity once again as his judgment was clouded with red mist after losing the ball, he then proceeded to make reckless kick out on Montenegro defender Miodrag Dzudovic. Continue reading Rooney’s Red Mist

Jennifer Thompson Claims She Slept With Rio

Jennifer Thompson is back at it again, this time she claims that she slept with Rio Ferdinand.

She said via her twitter:

“I have 100% slept with another England and United Player and the NOTW have this story and a Injunction is against it! But I will reveal When I get to a 1000 people because I know you will all retweet it on and it will be less of a shock when NOTW print it!

The Player introduced me to Wayne and acted as the setter up of the whole thing!

I have 100% Slept with @RioFerdy5 before I slept with Rooney I thought he was single and he set everything up with Wayne… Thnks for waitin”

For the record i don’t believe this for one moment and anyone could’ve made the twitter account and say it’s her, until it’s confirmed it’s her i’ll will continue to believe it’s just someone trying to get some attention.

Rio has already come out to dismiss the rumors via his twitter and said:

“Hahahaha!! Tweeps u lot have disappointed me being so gullible with the latest stupid rumour! Don’t believe the hype. There are some Vindictive people out there.”

Some people are very desperate for attention and will do anything to get their 15 minutes of fame.

Jose Mourinho: Scholes Is A Great, Great Player

“Scholes? Fantastic. Why isn’t he playing for England? It is crazy. Only in England.”

“Scholes is a great, great player. So experienced and still, for me, one of the best in the world in midfield. Manchester United are lucky to have him.”

England doesn’t deserve to have Scholes in their squad, that team is filled with players who don’t deserve to be weraing the jersey of the Three Lions. The national team is basically ran by the media not Capello, the face that Scholes has retired internationally has helped his career continue and help United aswell.

England’s World Cup dreams came to a humiliating end in the hands or shall i say on the feet of their bitter rivals Germany. A less than impressive England couldn’t put their poor group stage performances behind them to play in the most anticipated match of the round of 16.

There was a tremendous amount of pressure on England even before the match started to beat the Germans and most of that pressure came from the media. The moment the whistle blew you could have seen the tenseness in the England players. Germany started off bright and that was just an indication to what the entire game was going to be like.

The Germans went on to win the game 4-1 with some controversy involved when Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard scored a chip shot but the goal wasn’t given even though the ball was clearly 2 yards over the line. If the Lampard goal was counted the game could’ve been different, i am not one for excuses but i am sure many will agree with me.

I’m not surprised with England’s exit from the World Cup after the poor displays they had in the group stages. England have some serious problems and Germany exposed them. In order for the team to be successful they need two good wing backs and a defensive midfielder, i have no idea why Fabio Capello never gave Michael Carrick a chance.

In the game against Germany Steven Gerrard was consistent in making poor passes and it was real annoying to look at. I’m wondering if England can make a deal with FIFA to allow Didier Drogba to play for both England & Ivory Coast at the same time. I’m sure that would be a good move seeing how Gerrard found Didier Drogba with a lovely pass a few months ago in the English Premier League. Gerrard seems better at passing to the opposing team players than his own teammates which is very much confusing.

One of the biggest failures was Gareth Barry and he was awful and was at fault for two of the goals in the match against Germany. All the blame should not be put solely on him though some should be rightfully handed to former skipper John Terry. A player with plenty of experience failed to take control of his defense and was terribly out of place for the opening goal. The defense of England was all over the place against Germany.

Ashley Cole and Glen Johnson need to play with more discipline as well, none of them were around on the fourth Germany goal. They were more focused on going forward than they were on doing their job and that is to defend.

It’s time for England to start rebuilding their team and some of the players who are in this current squad should never put the England jersey on again.

England -vs- USA

All the talking and all the hype finally came to be today, all the talk of the 1-0 upset by the USA over England The game got it’s first goal just four minutes into the game after England got a throw-in and Steven Gerrard lost his man and got a nice pass from Emile Heskey and Gerrard nicely put the ball into the net.

The game was very competitive but England looked the more likely to get a win as a final result, they had chances to add to their lead but their shots were being saved by American goalkeeper Tim Howard. The shooting from the England players should have been better, they were directed straight at the American goalkeeper.

The U.S. had their fair share of chances and could have gotten the equalizer on a few occasions, Jozy Altidore miss directed a header from a few yards out and also missed tapping home another chance from a few yards out from a cross and they got just that with the help of English goalkeeper. Clint Dempsey fired a shot with his left foot from about 30 yards out which bounced straight the Robert Green but he fumbled it and knocked the ball over the line gifting the Americans an equalizer just before halftime.

The second half started off with England having majority of the possession and creating chance after chance but Tim Howard and Oguchi Onyewu kept thwarting them. The game then got opened up got more exciting after both teams were getting equal opportunites. The Americans had the best chance of the second half when Jozy Altidore ran pass England defender Jamie Carragher and fired a nice shot but Robert Green redeemed himself from his first half blunder and made a save which hit the post and almost went in.

One of the main attractions in the build up to the game Wayne Rooney of Manchester United came to life in the second half and had a few chances but couldn’t break the 1-1 deadlock.
The game ended as a draw but England should have won the game and i am sure their players would agree but the American players and supporters also feel their team should have won as well.
The overly hyped game didn’t disappoint and both teams have now turned their attention to their next opponent in their group.
